Matthew 17:20 KJV And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
A man came to Jesus pleading that Jesus should heal his son who is epileptic. He also told Jesus of how he brought his son to the disciples for healing and the futility of their effort. Jesus wasn’t happy with the unproductive attempt to cast out the demon. And instantly He cast out the demon and told them that they couldn’t because of unbelief.
Little faith is another word for unbelief, while belief is Faith. It shows that unbelief is not like you don’t believe at all, but that you know it’s possible but you think you are not and can’t measure to the standard of the one who is capable of birthing kingdom realities.
I once used to believe that miracles do happen but the ones who work miracles are predestined to do that. Like they are some special kind of human begins. Note that I believe miracles exist and even argue with those who don’t but do not believe that I can operate in the supernatural. Not until God opened my eyes and I spent months conducting series of deliverance for myself.
Likewise, the disciples will argue with those who don’t believe in the supernatural and will tell them our master does the supernatural. And will also convince them to come and witness miracles done by their master. But they couldn’t operate in it.
Jesus made them understand that the first step to the supernatural is to believe. In other words, have faith, then prayer and fasting follow. Note the order; belief, prayer, and fasting. If you find it difficult to believe in the supernatural you will find it difficult to pray. And when prayer hasn’t become a part of you, you will find it uneasy to fast. And if you fast without prayer, it’s a typical hunger strike.
You can move mountains if you believe.
Let us pray: Father, help me to believe Your Word to the details.
