2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
My Dad do tell me in my teenage age that you cannot sit on the fence in this world. That there are two sides of life; positive and negative, good and evil, new and old, etc. I didn’t understand him quite well then but now I know better.
Everyone is birthed with the old nature. Ps. 51:5. The nature of sin. But then, one can make a choice to either remain in and with it or to become new.
What is meant by the old nature? The nature of sin inherited from birth through Adam and Eve. It’s the nature that makes us lie without flinching. It makes you happy when you do something wicked to people. I remember in those days, I’ll cheat someone or destroy their things and be happy about it. If you derive joy or happiness in hurting others, you have the old nature.
A look at Galatians 5:19-21 will give you a very brilliant picture of the old nature.
Going further to verse 22-23. You will see the new nature made manifest. It doesn’t matter who you’ve been and what you’ve done. When you have a rebirth in and through Christ, you’ll be all new. The old nature fades and the new is evident.
You may think, can anyone live a holy life? Sure, everyone who has been reborn of Christ can. Rather than being happy when you do something bad, you feel remorse. There will also be a time in your life when you find it difficult to sin. Because the Spirit will tell you of a forthcoming sin thereby making a way to escape for you.
You have the willpower to leave the old and become new. Would you choose an old piece of cloth over a new one. Please be wise. The time is now.
Whenever the Lord looks down from Heaven, He sees Christ and not you. That’s if you are in Christ.
Let us pray: I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I renounce my past life and won’t go back. Cleanse me with the blood of Jesus and give me your Holy Spirit.
