Is Love Real?

Luke 10:27 KJV And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

One of the virtues lost in the world of today is Love. Writers write and Singers sing of their undiluted love for their bae or boo. Before you say, Jack Robinson, they take the oath and at a blink, their tale of love has become a sour soup, breakup.

Parents talk of how they love their children but the decisions they make don’t reflect the love they profess. At times you wonder if they really bore the child as their actions or decisions are inhumane and expose their children to toxic relationships.

Children, on the other hand, follow the pattern after their parents. They fake love to their parents and when their parents need them most, they are gone.

This trend goes on to the relations, friends, neighbours, community, society and the world. I’ve heard from people who were gullible and extorted. How they’ve made up their minds not to love any more. All they want is just a partner they can share a bed with. Carefully studying these people, they have one thing in common; they never understood God, they never knew Him. And they can’t love when they don’t know Love. 1 John 4:8 KJV He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Christ has made it clear to us in Luke 10:27 above. The first love which is the best love is to love God. That’s when you’ll be able to extend the love to yourself and to your neighbour.

God created Adam and didn’t give him a help meet until he has learnt to love his Maker. Our God is intentional with His action. He wanted Adam to learn His love and by this, he will extend the love to his wife and whoever is birthed into the family.

Love is dead, love isn’t real, you’ll be a fool to love. These are just a few of the statements made by people who think and live like Love don’t exist. Some “Christian” brethren have grown up with this mindset. And I wonder if they really know the Word of God!

If you have found God, you have found Love.

Let us pray: Father, help me to love You, myself and my fellow human beings.
