Wholeheartedly

Colossians 3:23 KJV And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

It was a beautiful day, and I was full of Hope and enthusiasm. I had been waiting for the day to come. Precisely the night. My Dad’s pastor friend is organising a praise night and here I am with lots of songs popping through my head. I just want to be there. Praise God from my heart. I may not get an accolade as I wasn’t a very good singer and not trendy.

It was my turn and then I got the mic, but dropped it as early as I took it. It was a show of shame. My brother was my drummer and had suggested some styles that’s trending. I’m not trendy, so I blew it.

Many of us care what people would say about our actions. Just like I did. You care what people will say about your clothes, your finances, your marriage and they have been an influence on you. You want to please your Daddy G.O. You want to impress your friends. I’ve seen students who studied courses that aren’t relevant to their lives because they wanted to make their parents proud.

I’m not saying you should act rashly and be inconsiderate. I don’t mean to say you should treat people around you like trash. I’m not saying people’s advice doesn’t count. What I want you to be mindful of is your heart. Do everything with your whole heart.

I rarely do things with the mindset of pleasing men. Ever since I got the knowledge. Just allow a free flow of an act of love. It’s a sure thing that it would please the Lord and not also have a negative impact on the surrounding people.

Our heart (mind) is so powerful that the book of Proverbs 4:23 says that we should guard it diligently. Romans 12:2 also talks about a renewal of mind. That means, to do things wholeheartedly and to do it as unto the Lord, you must have the mind of God. The Word of God must have transformed you. If you are not saved. Please decide now and join the family of God.

Fix your heart on God in whatever you do. He will reward you and men will also appreciate what you do.

Let us pray: Father, help me please you always.
