Expression of God’s Love II
Genesis 3:8b KJV And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:
Love is the reason for the existence of this world and love is the reason why it’s still in existence. There are languages to express love and we talked about the first; words of affirmation out of the five love languages last week.
One of the things I value most in life is time because it is irredeemable. I dislike those who don’t manage time well and think they really do not understand how valuable and precious it is. If they do, they will jealously guard it and prevent it from being wasted. The reformation on time management should start from our altars but let’s save this for another day.
There is time and there is quality time. When you have the attention of someone and you are unable to sustain it for as long as you are together due to distractions from the environment, you have time with the person. Meanwhile, when you have the undivided attention of such a person, you’ve had quality time together.
Technology has created social division to many in a way. You are physically with a friend yet very far because you are busy with your phone. Quality time when you drop your phone and even ignore calls because of your friend. You don’t want distractions because you value the relationship.
God values relationships so much that He visits Adam and Eve at a specific time each day giving them His undivided attention.
Some months back, God revealed to me that most of us earmark two (2) hours for service or more but eventually spend five (5) minutes of quality time with Him. We spend the remaining time with so many distractions.
People who spend quality time with the great God become Great. Moses was with God for forty (40) days and nights and wasn’t hungry or thirsty because God’s glory sustained him (Exodus 34:28). Abraham spent quality time with God and got the fulfillment of promise from God (Genesis 17 & 18). Jesus spent quality time with the Father and got a glorious and shining countenance (Matthew 17:2).
You might be a very busy person who rarely spent quality time with God. There is a way out. Agree with the Holy Spirit on a day of the week to spend quality time with Him. Try all you can so you won’t disappoint Him. If it’s two (2) hours or more just stay and take away all distractions.
Muse: Quality time with God births quality gift from Him.
Let us pray: Father, help me deny myself of pleasurable distractions depriving me of quality time with You.
