Expression of God’s Love IV
St. John 4:34 KJV Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
You cannot love without serving and serve without loving. This brings us to another expression of Love, Acts of Service.
I’ve never seen two love birds that don’t serve each other. They must keep serving each other to keep the love burning.
Whenever love is mentioned, what comes to my mind is sacrifice. I have tailored my mind towards it while growing up. Though I didn’t fully understand it. I do all I can to keep a good relationship with friends, members of organisations among others. I knew in part back in those days but now I know better.
At times you become a carpenter to fix a friend’s door. You become an errand person to keep the love burning. You can become a dishwasher or chef. You can become anything for the sake of love.
Jesus’ disciples were surprised to see Him hosting with a female at the well. He did it for the love of the Father. He was there preaching the gospel and eventually won her soul.
Paul the apostle became many things for the sake of love (I Cor. 9:22). For the sake of the love of God to us.
To serve is to become someone needed by your love to fix a thing or help on an issue.
So many motivational speakers talk about you can’t please people and so please yourself. It is true that we can’t please everyone but relationships don’t last without pleasing each other. Efforts must be made to keep the fire of love burning.
The amazing part of God’s love in action is that He has been serving us before we love Him. Romans 5:8 KJV But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He became a man for us to be saved. He became poor for us to enjoy riches. He became sin for us and died so that we can be saved and live eternally.
Serve to keep the fire of the love of God burning now that you are still alive (John 9:4). Do the work of an evangelist. Preach the Word in season and out of season. That’s the major act of service you can give to God.
Muse: Lovers are hard workers who work tirelessly to keep the fire of love aglow.
Let us pray: Father, strengthen me to do more for Your Love’s sake.
